Public Benefit
Policy
Unified Law Group, PB LLC, was intentionally established as a Public Benefit organization, and its overseeing law firm, Outside CLO, PC, follows this same approach because we believe that a strong legal infrastructure should be accessible to non-profits and smaller social enterprise companies without costing too much.
A portion of work performed for for-profit clients supports subsidized legal services for qualifying nonprofits, social enterprises, and approved impact initiatives through our Unified Impact Program.
This was not added later as a campaign or seasonal initiative. It was built into the structure from the beginning.

What matters most
Unified CLO was structured from the start to embed a public benefit commitment into the business itself.
The Unified Impact Program provides reduced rates and, in some cases, additional credits for qualifying organizations and initiatives.
Participation remains subject to qualification, engagement requirements, and Unified CLO's sole discretion.

Built Into the Structure
Unified CLO was intentionally designed this way because we believe lawyers should be able to do purpose-driven work without having to do it for free, and organizations doing meaningful work should have access to strong legal infrastructure without being priced out of it.
This is not a seasonal initiative, an optional charitable campaign, or a marketing program added later. Governance protections were put in place specifically so the give-back model could not simply disappear because leadership changed, priorities shifted, or the company became more successful.
“We wanted the give-back model to operate more like infrastructure than branding.”
Even a future sale of the company may be subject to governance provisions intended to preserve the public benefit commitment, as set forth in Unified CLO's governing documents. That was intentional.
The Unified Impact Program
The Unified Impact Program helps qualifying organizations access experienced legal support through reduced rates and subsidized legal service credits. To participate, each organization must qualify, become a client of Unified CLO, and execute Unified CLO's standard engagement letter.
The program is funded through contributions tied to work performed for for-profit clients. A portion of eligible legal fees paid by for-profit clients may be allocated toward the Unified Impact Fund, an internal fund maintained by Unified CLO to subsidize legal services for qualifying organizations.
Important structure note
This structure allows legal spend to support an additional public benefit outcome beyond the immediate client matter. Not through donations after the fact. Through the structure of the business itself.
Who May Qualify
Unified CLO generally supports organizations and initiatives that demonstrate meaningful social, environmental, educational, economic, health, or community impact.
CATEGORY
DESCRIPTION
Nonprofits
Organizations operating on a nonprofit basis, including organizations comparable to U.S. 501(c)(3) entities.
Social Enterprises
Mission-driven businesses using market-based approaches to create measurable social or environmental impact alongside financial sustainability.
Approved Impact Initiatives
Specific initiatives or programs operated by for-profit companies where the project itself advances a meaningful public benefit objective.
To qualify, organizations generally must operate in or substantially support activities within the United States, clear conflicts review, become a client by executing Unified CLO's standard engagement letter before receiving legal services or credits under the program, and comply with applicable laws and program requirements.
Impact Program Pricing & Subsidies
Organizations approved for the Unified Impact Program may benefit from two separate layers of financial support: reduced Impact Program rates and additional Impact Fund credits. The distinction matters because credits are applied in addition to the already reduced rates.

In practice
Organizations may receive discounted Impact Program pricing first, and then additional Impact Fund credits may be applied against eligible invoices to reduce the out-of-pocket amount even further.
How It Works in Practice
Example 1 · Discounted rates only
A nonprofit engages Unified CLO for employment, governance, and contract support and receives Impact Program pricing under the reduced rate structure.
Example 2 · Discounted rates + credits
The same nonprofit later receives Impact Fund credits designated by one or more for-profit clients, which are then applied against its already discounted invoices.
Example 3 · Directed support
A for-profit client designates an education-focused nonprofit as the beneficiary of available credits, subject to qualification and execution of Unified CLO's engagement letter.
Why We Do Not Operate as a Pro Bono Program
Unified CLO is not a pro bono organization, and the Unified Impact Program is not structured as traditional pro bono work. We believe organizations doing meaningful work deserve access to experienced professionals operating at a high level, with real accountability, responsiveness, and infrastructure behind them.
We also believe lawyers, paralegals, legal designers, and other professionals do their best work when their work is valued and compensated. Rather than relying primarily on donated hours or spare-time volunteer work, Unified CLO developed a model designed to create sustainable access to paid professional legal support at reduced and subsidized rates.
Responsible Business Practices
Our public benefit commitment also shapes how we advise clients generally. We emphasize practical and accessible legal frameworks, compliance-forward operations, responsible capital formation, sustainable governance structures, and transparency in documentation and business practices.
We believe businesses can be profitable, ambitious, and deeply responsible at the same time. Those ideas are not in conflict.
