Unified Law’s Commitment to Ethical Outsourcing & Anti-Slavery

Introduction

At Unified Law, we believe that ethical business practices extend beyond compliance—they are a core part of who we are. As a steward-owned, public benefit company, our commitment to fairness, dignity, and transparency shapes our operations. We don’t just follow the law; we set a higher standard.

Unlike many companies that obscure their outsourced operations, we proudly highlight the contributions of our incredibly talented team in the Philippines—attorneys, accountants, paralegals, and legal support staff—who work alongside our U.S.-based former in-house counsel to provide world-class legal services. This model allows us to offer 24/7 support, drive efficiency, and pass savings directly to our clients, all while ensuring fair and ethical treatment of every team member.

Ethical Labor Practices & Zero Tolerance for Exploitation

We recognize that outsourcing comes with concerns about labor practices, and we take proactive steps to ensure that our global operations reflect our values.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for forced labor, human trafficking, or exploitative employment practices. Every professional working with Unified Law—whether in the U.S. or the Philippines—is treated with respect, paid fairly, and given growth opportunities.

How We Ensure Ethical Practices

To uphold our commitment to ethical employment, we:

  • Pay competitive, living wages and offer benefits that support well-being and professional development.

  • Offer three weeks of paid time off (PTO), U.S. holidays, birthdays off, and comprehensive benefits—unlike many outsourcing groups that advertise attorneys for $25 an hour.

  • Conduct ongoing audits and compliance reviews to prevent labor abuses and ensure that everyone working with us is treated fairly.

  • Require vendors, suppliers, and partners to adhere to our ethical labor standards, including confirming compliance through written commitments and audits.

Our Role in Promoting Ethical Outsourcing

We reject the outdated notion that outsourcing equates to low-quality work or poor labor conditions. Instead, we champion a global, team-based approach where every person—regardless of location—is valued, empowered, and integral to our success.

We are committed to complying with U.S. anti-slavery laws and global labor protections and leading by example, proving that legal outsourcing can be done ethically, transparently, and with integrity.

Reporting & Accountability

If any employee, contractor, supplier, or partner fails to meet our ethical labor standards, we swiftly correct the situation, including terminating contracts, legal reporting, and additional oversight measures. Our confidential whistleblower channels allow anyone to report concerns without fear of retaliation.

Compliance with Legal Standards

As required by modern slavery and transparency in supply chain legislation, Unified Law provides this statement to outline our commitment to ethical labor practices and the steps we take to mitigate the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our organization and supply chains. This statement is made pursuant to applicable U.S. federal and state laws, including modern slavery and transparency in supply chains legislation, and is reviewed and updated annually by firm leadership.

Organization Structure & Supply Chains

Unified Law operates as a purpose-driven global legal support company with U.S.-based former in-house counsel collaborating with highly skilled attorneys, accountants, and legal professionals in the Philippines. Our hybrid team model ensures that every member is treated equitably and operates under fair labor conditions.

Policies on Slavery & Human Trafficking

Unified Law maintains a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our policies ensure that all employees, suppliers, and vendors uphold ethical labor standards, and we actively monitor our operations to prevent labor exploitation.

Due Diligence & Risk Assessment

To reduce risks of modern slavery, we:

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on all potential suppliers and vendors.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with reputable firms and clients that align with our values.

  • Require vendors and partners to certify compliance with ethical labor standards through audits and contractual commitments.

  • Implement continuous monitoring and risk management strategies to prevent unethical labor practices.

Key Performance Indicators & Training

We measure the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures through:

  • Annual supplier screenings and compliance confirmations.

  • Training completion rates for employees and management.

  • Effectiveness of corrective actions taken in response to reported concerns.

Conclusion

At Unified Law, we celebrate our team—whether in Dallas, San Francisco, or Cebu—because their talent and dedication make our success possible. We will continue to set the standard for ethical outsourcing, proving that doing good and doing business are not mutually exclusive.

Sincerely,

Amy Natasha Osteen
