IP Counsel for Growth Companies | Patent & Licensing Strategist

Ron Burns is Unified Law’s go-to General Counsel for all things intellectual property. With deep roots in patent law, real-world patent litigation chops, and in-house legal experience that spans decades, he helps clients build and protect their most valuable assets and then turn them into a business advantage.

Ron started his legal journey as a patent agent at Texas Instruments, where he learned to translate complex engineering into clean, enforceable rights. He went on to serve as General Counsel and Director of Intellectual Property and Licensing at Continuum Health Technologies, leading the company’s legal and IP strategy through growth, commercialization, and scale. Along the way, he’s served as fractional GC to multiple fast-growing technology companies, helping founders navigate IP protection, licensing, governance, and high-stakes contracts with clarity and confidence.

Most of Unified Law’s clients are growing with purpose—raising capital, planning for acquisition, or chasing the next strategic milestone. And while corporate hygiene matters, nothing will stall a deal faster than a messy IP story. That’s where Ron comes in. He helps founders and legal teams button up their IP before diligence hits—so it’s a growth asset, not a red flag. From strategy and prosecution to licensing and litigation, he’s seen it all—and built systems that make sure your innovation holds its value when it matters most.
